Turkey: Capia pepper grown in Bafra Plain goes to EU countries' tables

Producers in Bafra Plain, one of the most fertile plains in Turkey, have started harvesting capia pepper. Capia pepper, which is used in making tomato paste, powdered pepper and consumed by roasting, is in demand with its flavor and meaty structure. Samsun Agriculture and Forestry Director İbrahim Sağlam told AA correspondent that vegetable production is mainly done in Bafra Plain. Pointing out that when the figures for 2023 are looked at in the plain, there is a total of 870 thousand tons of vegetable production, Sağlam said, "Of course, when we look at our pepper production in 2023, we had approximately 168 thousand tons of pepper production in a total area of 46 thousand decares. In 2024, the production area increased to 51 thousand decares. We expect a total yield of 182 thousand tons from here.
