A census by the Swiss-Dutch company, dsm-firmenich, reveals that the number of cattle in Brazilian feedlots has increased by 11% in 2024, reaching 7.96 million. This represents a 70% rise since 2015, indicating a growing trend towards intensive livestock farming. Despite this, intensive farming still accounts for a small portion of Brazil's total cattle herd, which stands at around 240 million. The states of Mato Grosso, São Paulo, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, and Minas Gerais are the top five locations for confined cattle.
