Bangladesh is experiencing a significant increase in cattle prices, projected to surpass 10% this year, as the country prepaes for Eid-ul-Azha. Despite having a robust stock of 12.5 million cattle for sale, the local farming community is fully prepared with around the same number as last year, showing no need for imports. To safeguard local farmers and prevent smuggling, the government has increased surveillance at borders. The Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association (BDFA) has requested the ministry to ensure smooth transportation of animals from farms, and an increase in animal feed prices is expected to further drive up costs.
