Chile: Cattle slaughter decreases in the Los Lagos Region

During July, 23,905 heads of cattle were benefited in slaughterhouses in the region, which represents a drop of 1.8% compared to July 2022. The production of meat on sticks reached 6,022 tons, confirming the negative trend. The categories of steers and bulls were the ones with the highest incidence in the loss of bovine slaughter, with decreases of 6.7% and 33.5% respectively in the benefited heads. Meanwhile, meat from steers fell 7.2% and bull meat 33.3% in interannual terms. On the contrary, cattle transactions at fairs increased 9.5% in the Los Lagos and Aysén Region. 19,983 head were auctioned, driven primarily by increases in heifers and calves.
