Cereal production increased in Russia

Production of various types of cereals in Russia in January-July 2023 reached more than 1 million tons, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture reported. In particular, the production of buckwheat increased by 6.8%, oatmeal by 19.9%, and corn by 4.3%. The ministry noted that prices for main types of cereals have decreased. Thus, by August 30, buckwheat fell in price by 12.3% since the beginning of the year, and rice by 4%. This year, the area under buckwheat increased to 1.3 million hectares (+14.3%), under rice - to 189.6 thousand hectares (+7.4%). 50.6 thousand tons of buckwheat have already been harvested, which is almost twice as much as on the same date last year. According to forecasts from the Ministry of Agriculture, the total agricultural harvest will exceed last year’s and amount to more than 1.2 million tons.
