(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Sun-kyung = Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 13th that it will reopen the Junam Reservoir area, which had been under entry control since the end of last month to prevent the spread of avian influenza (AI). The city decided to lift the control after strengthening monitoring and finding no additional confirmed cases of AI. However, as the risk of AI remains until the migratory birds return from the north, disinfection footbaths and vehicle quarantine measures will continue to be implemented. Junam Reservoir Division Chief Seong Woo-hyuk said, "We expect many visitors to come to Junam Reservoir during the holiday," and added, "We will thoroughly carry out preventive measures prioritizing the safety of citizens and poultry farmers."
