Since July, prices of cheese meat have reached record highs, increasing by 23% in September to $13.50/kg, primarily due to demand from South Korea and Japan, with domestic demand also rising. Beef lips, mainly exported to Indonesia, saw a 7% decrease in October to $4.60/kg. Halal co-products, such as Halal omasum, command a 20% premium over non-Halal products due to demand in Middle Eastern countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt. High-value co-products, including foetal blood, tallow, and bloodmeal, are maintaining their prices despite the cost of inputs. In contrast, hide prices are decreasing due to reduced demand for leather luxury goods. The co-product market presents a significant opportunity for additional profits for processors.
