Poland's dairy exports are dominated by cheese and cottage cheese, accounting for 34% of total dairy product exports from January-May 2021. The majority of these exports are rennet ripened cheeses, with the Czech Republic being the largest recipient within the EU, and Ukraine being the largest non-EU recipient. Poland's cheese production has seen a significant increase since 2014, reaching a record 945 thousand tons in 2004-2019. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, cheese production in Poland in 2020 was 1.5 times higher than the year of Poland's EU accession.
