[Korean Farmers and Fishermen Newspaper, Reporter Jo Seong-je] The Cheongsong County Council (Chair Sim Sang-hyo) adopted a resolution last December urging the establishment of an ordinance that reflects the demands of residents affected by forest fires. According to the Cheongsong County Council, this resolution was made to ensure the effectiveness of the 'Special Act for Disaster Relief and Support for Victims of Extra-Large Forest Fires,' which was enacted to support residents who lost their livelihoods due to a large forest fire that occurred in March, and to incorporate the realistic voices of the affected residents into the regulations that will be established in the future. The Cheongsong County Council stated through the resolution that the enactment of the special act was the result of the affected residents' fierce struggle and national attention, but specific support criteria were delegated.
