The Erdemli district in Mersin, Turkey, is launching a new project, "Chestnut Production in Marginal Lands," to cultivate chestnut saplings on idle agricultural lands. The District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry has distributed 1,800 saplings to 29 farmers as the initial stage of the project. The goal is to bring underutilized lands into economic use, prevent erosion, and provide financial support to the farmers. A pilot area spanning 110 decares in Karahıdırlı Neighborhood has been identified for this initiative.
