Over the past five years, Chile's salmon exports have grown by an average of 2% annually, with fresh salmon exports rising by 8.6% last year, while frozen salmon exports fell by 1%. Significant increases were seen in the export volumes of Atlantic and coho salmon. Despite a 5% drop in salmon prices, salmon exports surpassed lithium in value, becoming Chile's second-largest export after copper. The main export markets include the US, Japan, Brazil, Russia, and China. The Chilean Salmon Council is concerned about stagnant production levels and calls for modern, innovative, and flexible laws to ensure sustainable growth, emphasizing the importance of public-private cooperation.
