Chile: Imports of dairy products decrease 14.9% between January and August 2022

The Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) released its bulletin on the dairy sector, where it was reported that imports of these products, made between January and August 2022, presented a decrease of 14.9% in volume and 4.7 % in its value. This is due to the fact that, in the analyzed period of 2022, 84,058 tons (t) entered for a value of 323,706 thousand USD. While, in the same time frame of 2021, Chile imported 100,122 tons of dairy goods, for a total cost of thousands of USD equal to 339,927. In its breakdown, among the main products purchased are Cheese, merchandise that was imported for a total of 37,835 tons, reaching the figure in thousands of dollars of 180,984. It was followed by Whey, which entered 10,595 tons at a value of thousands of dollars equal to 31,740. On the contrary, those that were imported in less quantity were Manjar and others, with a USD value of 1,740 and a total volume of 871 tons.
