To verify compliance with the phytosanitary requirements for the certification of lily bulbs intended for the Asian, European, and American markets, among others, a team of officials from the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) along with the regional director of Biobío, Roberto Ferrada, conducted a field inspection at the Sun Harvest company, in Los Ángeles. The purpose is to evaluate the presence of certain viruses such as Lily mottle virus, Plantago mosaic virus, among others. In this regard, the SAG executive specified that, to carry out the phytosanitary certification, the SAG must conduct at least two official inspections during the active growth period of the crop, mainly focused on the visual detection of symptomatology associated with viruses that could compromise the production of flowers in the destination markets, he affirmed.
