Chile recognizes PR as a zone free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination and classical swine fever

Chile has recognized the state of Paraná as an area free of foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination and free of classical swine fever. The recognition is included in a joint statement by the Brazilian and Chilean governments following the visit of Chilean President Gabriel Boric to the country last week. The document was released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE). The recognition will allow Paraná to export pork to Chile. The Secretary of Commerce and International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture, Luis Rua, had announced earlier this week that the announcement should take place during Boric's visit to Brazil. This is a long-standing demand of the meat industry in Paraná, especially agro-industrial cooperatives. Currently, only the industry in Santa Catarina can export pork to Chile, due to the protocols agreed upon between the countries.
