Chilean blueberry production is expected to remain steady at around 375 million pounds this season, with the peak production occurring in the central and south-central regions. The season is expected to end early, by the third or fourth week of February. There will be a change in the variety mix of blueberries and a lower volume of fresh exports this season. The United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America are the main markets for Chilean blueberries. There have been efforts to develop blueberry consumption globally, with a focus on organic blueberries, which make up about 20% of Chile's production. Logistical challenges were the biggest barrier to Chilean blueberry exports last season, but conditions are expected to improve for the next season.
