Chilean cherries continue to open opportunities in India

India stands out as a potential destination for Chilean cherries. As highlighted by the Chilean Fruit Cherry Committee, so far in the development of the current 2023-2024 export season, shipments of cherries have reached levels similar to the previous season, amounting to 444 tons. Claudia Soler, executive director of the Chilean Cherry Fruit Committee, highlighted that this is the first year that a ship (Cosco CSCL Star) with cherries has arrived in India in a record time of 36 days with a single stopover. “This represents a significant improvement in reference to the logistical challenges that the market has experienced in previous seasons and is the result of the close collaboration, prior to the season, of the Committee, the exporting members and the shipping companies.” He added: “The objective of these actions is to develop the Indian market by facilitating logistics and reducing transit times, thus guaranteeing the quality and optimal condition of the fruit upon arrival.” ...
