In 2020, despite the pandemic, Chile's fruit exports saw a growth, reaching 3.31 million tons and valued at USD 6,815 million FOB. These exports were dominated by fresh fruit, which constituted 73% of the total, while processed and dried fruits accounted for 19% and 9%, respectively. The most widely exported fresh fruits were cherries, grapes, and apples, with cherries being the biggest seller, mainly to China. However, there was a decrease in the volume and value of grape and apple exports. Nuts, particularly shelled walnuts, were the primary processed fruit product, with Germany, Spain, and Italy being the main importers. Overall, the top four fresh fruits and nuts concentrated around 82% of the total value of Chile's fresh fruit exports.
