CIREN and ODEPA presented the results of fruit cadastres in Valparaíso and Metropolitana, showing a total decrease of 1,606 hectares of walnut trees, with Valparaíso Region experiencing a 9.9% decrease and Metropolitan Region a 5.5% decrease. Chilenut's president, Juan Esteban Rodríguez, discussed the implications of the decrease in walnut production, predicting a national production of around 180,000 tons due to decreased surface area and water scarcity, particularly in the IV region. Chilenut, the leading union organization in the walnut industry in Chile, is working to ensure sustainable development and representing its members in various capacities to address the challenges faced by the industry.
