It concerns a shipment of Tessa apples supplied through the growers' cooperative FruitMasters in Geldermalsen. According to the sales organization, the delivery marks a special moment because for the first time, Dutch apples have been commercially admitted to the Chinese market. The import has been formally possible since May 2025 when China definitively approved the export protocol for Dutch apples. The container was ceremonially opened upon arrival. FruitMasters states that China, following pears, is also a market with a lot of potential for high-quality fresh fruit in the case of apples. The demand for healthy, safe, and traceable fruits aligns with the strong image of Dutch agriculture in China, according to the organization.
