China has officially confirmed to Spanish authorities that it accepts the regionalization of the African swine fever (ASF) situation, prohibiting only the entry of pork products from the province of Barcelona. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, after the meeting he held this afternoon with the white pork producer and industrial sector, in which he conveyed to the sector that, for the moment, no positives have been detected in farms or production animals with compatible symptoms. The objective now, he stressed, is to "delimit" the affected area and "prevent its spread to other places." Planas sees it as "good news" that the Chinese authorities have finally accepted this regionalization thanks to the agreement they signed with Spain a little over two weeks ago.
