China continues to increase corn production

Improved yields against stable planting areas contribute to the increase in production, while imports are reduced due to government policies aimed at achieving self-sufficiency and reducing imports to protect local farmers, reports FAS USDA in its report. FAS experts have reduced the forecast for corn imports into China in 2025/26 by 1 million tons to 7 million tons, and by 2 million tons in 2024/25, while in 2023/24 imports reached 23.4 million tons. The forecast for corn consumption in 2025/26 remains at 321 million tons, which is 1% higher than in 2024/25. The increase in consumption is due to the return of traditional norms in feed rations, low prices that stimulate processing, and government policies that limit the import of corn substitutes.
