In the first seven months of 2024, China's mariculture output rose by 5.2 percent to 13 million metric tons, contributing to a 4 percent increase in overall seafood production. The Chinese government has been expanding large mariculture facilities and tightening freshwater aquaculture supervision, attracting significant investments from state conglomerates like Guoxin Development Group. China aims to sustainably boost aquaculture output, improve wild-caught fisheries governance, and enhance fishery resource conservation and law enforcement. Additionally, China plans to increase seafood trade and support other countries in growing their aquaculture through technology transfer.
