Norwegian mackerel fishing is delayed by storms, first batch of spring spawning herring lands on the northern coast.

The "Zenit" from the waters west of Sørøya in northern Norway was the first to report the autumn's first batch of NVG herring catch, followed closely by the "Vikingbank" from the Karmøy fleet. This week, a total of 2,230 tons of NVG herring were reported, with fish body weights averaging between 235 and 322 grams, indicating excellent quality and abundant new season resources. The water temperature in the fishing area was relatively low, and the sea currents were stable, which is considered a signal that the herring migration period has officially started this year. In contrast to the northern bounty, the mackerel fishing operation in the North Sea faced a challenging week. Persistent strong winds and heavy rains hindered the progress of fishing, forcing most fleets to temporarily suspend operations.
