China has authorized the start of imports of pork and offal from Russia, the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China reported, TASS reports. According to the agency, starting from January 24, “the import of pork and edible pork by-products from Russia that meets the relevant requirements is permitted.” Last week, our country’s trade representative to China said that supplies of Russian pork to China could begin in the second half of 2024. In September 2023, Chinese authorities lifted temporary restrictions related to African swine fever that had been in place for Russia since 2008. According to estimates by the National Union of Pig Breeders (NSU), the export of Russian pork to China could amount to 150-200 thousand tons per year.
