The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in China has issued licenses to 26 local companies, including subsidiaries of Yuan Long Ping High-Tech Agriculture and China National Seed. Chinese breeders are preparing to plant about 670 thousand hectares of GM maize in eight provinces, with a controlled expansion of GMOs and large-scale testing showing "prominent" and safe results according to the Ministry of Agriculture.
