In 2022, China's fruit imports saw a 4% increase in volume and an 8% increase in value, reaching 7.33 million metric tons and $14.6 billion respectively, despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. The country's fruit exports, on the other hand, saw a decline for the third consecutive year, with a 8% decrease in volume and 15% decrease in value. The report highlighted the performance of various fruits, including fresh durians, cherries, bananas, mangosteens, and coconuts. Thailand emerged as the leading exporter of durians and cherries to China, while the Philippines, Vietnam, and Cambodia were the major suppliers of bananas. Mangosteen imports also saw a decline, mainly from Thailand. Coconut imports experienced a significant increase, mainly from Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam. China's fruit exports included fresh apples, table grapes, citrus fruits, pears, and grapefruit.
