China is expected to import 2.7 million tons of sunflower meal in the 2022/2023 season, a 39% increase from the previous season, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service. Sunflower meal has become more popular in China as the price of soybean meal has risen. Ukraine is the largest supplier of sunflower meal to China, followed by Bulgaria and Russia, with imports from the latter two countries growing significantly. However, sunflower meal imports are predicted to decrease to 2.5 million tons in the 2023/2024 season due to lower prices for soybean meal.
