China increases imports of Russian grain

In May 2024, China imported 141 thousand tons of grain and flour from Russia (worth $33 million), which is 2.9 times more than in the same month last year. Barley accounted for more than half of the volume of Russian grains purchased in May – almost 80 thsd tonnes ($19 mln), which is 3.5 times more than last May. The company imported 28 thousand tons of wheat and meslin (up $7 million), 21 thousand tons of oats (up $4.8 million), 10.5 thousand tons of flour (up $3.4 million), and 1.9 thousand tons of cereals and coarse flour (up $511 thousand). In total, in the first five months of 2024, China’s imports of Russian grain increased by 4.6 times compared to January-May 2023 – up to 653 thsd tonnes (by $159 mln).
