Chinese imports of soybeans from Brazil increased by 2.4% in August compared to the previous year, as buyers sought to bolster stockpiles to mitigate risks of supply disruptions in the fourth quarter. According to Reuters, the world's largest importer of soybeans acquired 10.49 million tons from Brazil last month, which represented 85.4% of the total soybean imports, according to customs data released last Saturday (20). August marked yet another month in 2025 in which Chinese soybean imports reached record levels for the period, following the records of May, June, and July. Arrivals from the United States totaled 227,205 tons, up 12.3% from the previous year. From January to August, China imported 52.74 million tons from Brazil, a 2.0% drop compared to the same period last year, while shipments from the U.S. totaled 16.8 million tons, an increase of 30.9%, the data showed.
