Colombia has had restrictions on beef and pork imports by China lifted, following the country's regaining of FMD-free status in 2020. This achievement was made possible through collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), and the livestock sector. The ICA and China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) reviewed Colombia's epidemiological surveillance and control systems, leading to the announcement of the lifted restrictions. Colombia is now working towards meeting remaining requirements set by the GACC to fully admit beef and pork products from the country.
