The Belgian Federal Agency for Food Safety (FASFC) has successfully negotiated an agreement with China's General Administration of Customs (GACC) to expand Belgian pork product exports to China, including products like pig's trotters that are rarely consumed in Belgium but popular in China. This development comes after a ban on Belgian pork following a swine fever outbreak in wild boars, in effect since 2021. This agreement, heralded by the Belgian Minister of Agriculture, David Clarinval, as a significant boost for the local pig farming sector, aims to increase the value of pork products by granting better market access and promoting more lucrative prices for farmers. The signing of this agreement in Beijing marks a milestone in bilateral agricultural trade relations between Belgium and China.
