The Chinese government has decided to extend, for the second time, the deadline for the investigation into possible safeguard measures applied to beef imports. The confirmation came this Tuesday (25), through the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China (MOFCOM). According to the statement, "given the complexity of the case, the Ministry of Commerce has decided to extend the investigation deadline again until January 26, 2026." The investigation began on December 27, 2024, to analyze whether the increase in international purchases was harming domestic production. The first extension occurred on August 6, 2025, when the deadline was extended until November 26. With the new decision, the process extends for another two months, maintaining an environment of uncertainty for Brazil, the main supplier of beef to the Chinese market.
