China purchases 800,000 tons of tapioca starch from Vietnam

Statistics from the General Administration of Customs of China show that in July, China spent US$145.1 million to purchase 289,200 tons of cassava starch (HS 11081400 code), with import volume and import value increasing by 66.3% and 55.9% year-on-year respectively. This is also the fifth consecutive month that China's cassava starch imports have increased compared with the same period in 2023. In the first seven months of this year, China spent US$1.08 billion to purchase 2.05 million tons of cassava starch from Southeast Asian countries; import volume and import value increased by 21.8% and 33.7% year-on-year respectively. Among them, it was mainly imported from Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia. Thailand became China's largest supplier of cassava starch in the first seven months of this year.
