Since the onset of 2024, China has solidified its position as the primary market for Argentine beef, accounting for 76.6% of Argentina's beef exports in March, with a notable demand for both boneless and bone-in varieties. In the first quarter of the year, 78.6% of Argentina's beef exports, valued at US$137 million, were destined for China. Despite this robust trade relationship, the average price of beef exported to China has seen a significant decline, dropping from US$5,900 per ton in May 2022 to US$3,330 per ton.
