Taiwan is declared free of ASF

The World Organization for Animal Health (WHO) has published the self-declaration of Chinese Taipei as a country free of African swine fever (ASF). ASF has not been detected in Chinese Taipei. According to the 2023 agricultural statistics report of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA), Executive Yuan, the number of pig farms in Chinese Taipei was 5,804, with 5,319,203 head, the vast majority of which were located in the Taiwan region. There are also Taiwan wild boars (Sus scrofa taivanus), mainly distributed in mountainous areas and in relatively low numbers.
