The article highlights the dynamics of China's agricultural sector, particularly focusing on feed utilization, production, and market trends for the 2023/24 period. It is expected that feed utilization will remain stable due to steady demand for pig and poultry feed, with an increase in maize content. China's feed production reached 302.2 Mt in 2022, with pig and poultry feed accounting for most of it. The use of maize in feed has increased, while wheat and barley use has decreased. Factors such as high feed prices and low hog prices are expected to limit expansion in the pig farming sector. Meanwhile, corn acreage is expected to decrease as government policies favor soybean production. Corn and sorghum imports are projected to remain stable, while rice consumption and imports are expected to decline.
