In the first half of 2021, China experienced a notable growth in its fruit imports and exports, with import volumes and values reaching 3.71 million tons and $7.69 billion, and export volumes and values reaching 1.43 million tons and $2.29 billion, marking increases of 2%, 21%, 5.9%, and 15.4% compared to the previous year respectively. The report highlights the significant growth in imports of durians, cherries, and longans, with durians alone seeing a 24% increase in volume and a 60% increase in value. Meanwhile, banana imports also saw a rise, largely due to the Philippines, despite a decrease in table grape imports. The top fruit exporters to China included Thailand, Chile, and Vietnam. China's fruit exports were predominantly to Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia, with a slight increase in export values to these markets.
