China's animal feed manufacturers saw a significant increase in production and sales in 2021 due to a rise in the number of pigs and a growing demand for cattle and aquaculture. The National Association of the Feed Industry reported a 16.1% increase in production to 293.4 million tons, with sales surging by 29.3% to €170 billion. The production of compound feed also rose by 17.1% to 270.2 million tons, while that of special concentrate feed increased by 2.4% to 15.5 million tons. Additionally, 14.8 million tons of feed additives were produced, marking a 6.2% increase from the previous year. The majority of the feed was produced for pig farmers. There were 208 more systems than in the previous year, with the province of Shandong being the strongest hub of industrial feed production.
