The Chungcheongbuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services recently held a seminar to explore ways to increase wheat-growing areas and boost sorghum productivity in North Chungcheong Province. The institute emphasized the need to cultivate varieties with strong winter cold resistance and low germination number for economic marquis. Sorghum, with a shorter growing period than soybean and rice, is identified as a suitable post-crop plant. The institute demonstrated the technique of planting 'Cheongpungsoo' seedlings using a transplanter, a method expected to reduce production costs by over 40% and make sorghum a new income crop. The institute also highlighted the health benefits of 'Cheongpungsoo' and is working on mechanizing paddy cultivation to expand the cultivated area of this sorghum variety.
