Italy's agri-food sector has seen a resilient performance in the first half of 2021, with exports increasing by 12% to reach a value of 50 billion, despite the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic. Traditional Italian products like beer, which has seen a 32% increase in the United States, and sparkling wine, which has reached an all-time high in France, have driven this growth. The sector has also seen a surge in the production of exotic fruits, which has doubled in less than three years, particularly in southern regions. This growth is largely driven by young farmers who are revitalizing abandoned land due to climate change. Coldiretti is calling for the Pnrr's interventions to overcome historical gaps and create more economic and job opportunities.
