The price of sunflower oil in Turkey has surged due to factors such as the rise in the dollar exchange rate, inflation, and the Russia-Ukraine war, reaching 200 liras for 5 liters from 60 liras in April 2021. Even brands claiming to sell cheap products have priced it above 150 liras. Ahmet Bestil, President of the Konya Beet and Agricultural Products Producers Association, warns that the price could rise to 100 TL per liter and urges the government to intervene to prevent this. He also cautions about the potential increase in sugar prices due to missing beet production in 2021 and lack of fair pricing for beet.
