Colombian cocoa production saw a 10% decrease in 2022, dropping from 69,040 tons in 2021 to 62,158 tons, as reported by the National Federation of Cocoa trees (Fedecacao). Despite this setback, Fedecacao remains optimistic about a potential increase in production for 2023 due to favorable crop conditions, the end of the rainy season, and the ongoing plantation renewal process. Exports of raw cocoa grain also experienced a significant decrease of 50.5% in the first eleven months of 2022, while exports of the semi-seeded and processed product saw a 21% increase in value during the same period.
