China's demand for coffee is on the rise, particularly among urban areas and young people, with an annual growth rate of 15% as of 2021, according to the China Coffee Association. The instant coffee segment is leading the market due to its convenience. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, coffee consumption in China reached 3.7 million bags from October 2020 to April 2021. The country relies heavily on imports, with a 75.3% increase in coffee import turnover in the first nine months of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. Major coffee suppliers to China include Guatemala and Ethiopia. The Import-Export Department suggests that to increase market share in China, Vietnam's coffee industry should focus on innovation, product packaging, and quality improvement.
