In 2024, Vietnam witnessed a significant achievement in its coffee export revenue, setting a new record of 5.6 billion USD, despite a decrease in export volume by 17.1% to 1.34 million tons, a nine-year low. This achievement was largely due to high prices, with the average export price reaching 4,178 USD/ton, a 60% increase from the previous year. Despite the decrease in volume, the export turnover experienced a sharp increase of 32.5% compared to the old record of 4.24 billion USD in 2023. The European Union continued to be the largest consumer of Vietnamese coffee, contributing to 39.3% of the volume and 38.4% of the turnover. Additionally, export turnover to Japan, the US, and Russia also increased, while coffee exports to several Asian countries saw significant growth in both volume and value. However, the volume of exports in the fourth quarter of 2024 decreased by over 40% compared to the same period last year due to a delay in harvesting and farmers' reluctance to sell.
