Colombia's coffee production saw a significant surge, with a 21% increase in the past 12 months, reaching 13.41 million 60-kilo bags, as reported by the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC). This equates to a value of 14.2 billion pesos (around US$3.2 billion). The 2024 coffee prices have also improved, rising from US$1.88 to US$3.18 per pound, a good sign for the industry. The FNC is planning for 2025 at the 93rd National Congress of Coffee Growers in Bogotá, focusing on economic recovery and sustaining the growth momentum. There has been a notable increase in coffee plantation renewals in 2024, totaling 90 thousand hectares, the largest in the last eleven years. The FNC is advocating for continued government support for fertilization plans, while Finance Minister Ricardo Bonilla has emphasized the importance of formalizing coffee cooperatives to ensure sector sustainability.
