Colombia has made progress towards exporting beef and pork to China, following the country's recovery from foot-and-mouth disease in 2020. This advancement is due to the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), and the livestock sector. However, the ICA cautions that the process is not yet completed, as there are still steps to be taken through Invima and other entities. The ICA's efforts in recovering Colombia's sanitary status and working with producers and the Chinese health authority have been key in this achievement. The potential access to the Chinese market, one of the largest in the world, is seen as a significant opportunity for Colombia's livestock sector.
