The Colombian government has lifted its ban on US beef from states where H5N1 was detected in dairy cows, allowing beef from 13 states to re-enter the market. This decision comes after significant efforts by various US government agencies, particularly the USDA staff in Bogota. The ban had previously caused a sharp decline in US beef exports to Colombia, dropping from an average of $3 million per month to less than $850,000 in July. The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is now focused on rebuilding its presence in the Colombian market.
