The 'Sustainable Agro-Food Colombia' project, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, CIAT Bioversity Alliance, and the Magdalena and La Guajira Banana Growers Association (ASBAMA), has successfully installed two meteorological stations and two digital rain gauges in key banana sector locations. Equipped with sensors for air temperature, humidity, precipitation, solar radiation, and wind speed, these stations provide real-time climate data to support decision-making related to crop planning, agrochemical application, and phytosanitary management. This initiative is set to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of banana production in the northern coast of Colombia.
