The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) has temporarily banned the import of live cattle and related products from the United States due to the detection of avian influenza in dairy cows across eight states. This measure is aimed at preventing the spread of the disease in Colombia and safeguarding public health. Until the US provides more information on the outbreak and the disease's transmission, Colombia will allow the consumption of beef from cattle slaughtered before a certain date. The US has taken steps to control the spread, including testing and implementing biosecurity measures on farms. Additionally, the ICA has advised the public to take preventative measures, such as avoiding dead or sick wild birds and regularly washing hands.
