In 2024, Colombia experienced a 7.2% increase in pig slaughter, reaching 6,190,195 head, and a 7.8% increase in pork production, resulting in 608,752 tonnes. The value of production also rose by 7.5% to COP 7.83 billion. The majority of this production, about 74%, was concentrated in Antioquia, Cundinamarca, and Valle del Cauca. There was a 19.2% increase in pork imports and a 10% increase in apparent consumption, with per capita consumption rising to 14.7 kg/inhabitant. Despite this, the price of live pigs slightly decreased by 0.3%, and pig feed prices dropped by 9.1%.
